NEW ACCESS ROAD BARNAGEERAGH, SKERRIES

COMHAIRLE CONTAE FHINE GALL

FINGAL COUNTY COUNCIL

BALBRIGGAN/SWORDS AREA COMMITTEE MEETING

(Services B – Strategic & General Matters)

THURSDAY 10TH MAY, 2018

ITEM NO. 16

. AI043052

Question: Councillor B. Dennehy

"To ask the Chief Executive with the impending planned opening of the

new access road due later this year what provisions are planned to

alleviate the current heavy traffic and anticipated increase in traffic on the

ring road for the estates accessing out onto the road which include The

Green, Selskar Court, Selskar Road, Newtown Parks, Townparks,

Northcliffe Heights, Kellys Bay Drive and Tower?"

Reply:

The planned immanent opening of the New Barnageeragh Road will see

an increase in traffic volumes passing by the above named estates. It is

anticipated that this will only have a slight/moderate effect on the

efficiency of the junctions accessing onto the Barnageeragh Road. The

situation regarding the effect of the increased traffic volumes, on the

estate junctions, will be kept under review during the initial opening

period. If measures are then deemed necessary to elevate any significant

adverse effects appropriate measures can be proposed at that time. The

opening of the new road will act as a bypass of Skerries Town and the

reduction in through traffic volumes within the town will have significant

positive effect on the environment of the area.
