Palmer Road, Rush – Traffic calming

COMHAIRLE CONTAE FHINE GALL

FINGAL COUNTY COUNCIL

BALBRIGGAN/SWORDS AREA COMMITTEE MEETING

[Services A – Operational Matters]

Thursday 9th October, 2014

ITEM NO. 38

Question: Councillor B. Dennehy:

" To ask the Chief Executive to outline what traffic calming measures can be carried out to resolve the on going

numerous complaints and reports of near accidents conveyed by residents primarily residing in the high density

populated area where the Palmer Road meets the Skerries Road?"

Reply:

A Speed Survey was undertaken between Palmer Avenue and the Skerries Rush Road in July 2013. The survey

was carried out over a 3 day period and it was established that the average speed of vehicles on this section of

road was 36km/h. While the area will be monitored, the results of the survey did not indicate that this location

was high priority for traffic calming measures.
