Pier Wall Repair on Rush Harbour

COMHAIRLE CONTAE FHINE GALL

FINGAL COUNTY COUNCIL

BALBRIGGAN/SWORDS AREA COMMITTEE MEETING

[Services A – Operational Matters]

Thursday, 10th November, 2016

ITEM NO. 59

Question: Councillor B. Dennehy

"To ask the Chief Executive for an update of progress on reinstating the corner

stone which has been missing from the harbour pier since October 2015?"

Reply:

All works to Harbours are, by nature, very specialised, particularly so when the

Harbour is a Protected Structure as is the case in Rush. It appears that there is a

second stone that requires replacing which currently lies submerged at the

entrance to the harbour. Any proposed works will require clearance by the

Council’s Conservation Officer.

It is proposed to prepare and submit a proposal to the Department of

Agriculture, Food and the Marine for funding to carry out refurbishment works to

Harbours under the Council’s control. This proposal will include the works

referred to.
