Playing Pitches St. Maurs GAA Club

COMHAIRLE CONTAE FHINE GALL

FINGAL COUNTY COUNCIL

BALBRIGGAN/SWORDS AREA COMMITTEE MEETING

[Services A – Operational Matters]

Thursday 11th December, 2014

ITEM NO. 3

Question: Councillor B Dennehy:

To ask the Chief Executive to outline the availability of playing pitches for St. Maurs GAA club to use in Donabate

Dense or another location of similar distance to the town of Rush for the year 2015?”

Reply:

Pitch allocations for the 2014-2015 season were decided in May. As St. Maurs GAA club did not submit an

application at this time their needs were not included in the assessment of total local demand. Each year in May

available pitches are allocated based on the number of teams each club has competing in official competition.

Fingal County Council endeavours to meet this local demand from all available pitches including any privately

owned pitches that are available to the clubs. The full-sized GAA pitch in Newbridge Demesne has been

allocated to 2 clubs from the North County based on the applications received earlier this year. The other GAA

pitches in the North County are similarly fully allocated. There are a small number of under-used soccer pitches

in Newbridge Demesne that might suit junior or juvenile games.
