Priority Traffic Signage Oldtown

COMHAIRLE CONTAE FHINE GALL

FINGAL COUNTY COUNCIL

BALBRIGGAN/SWORDS AREA COMMITTEE MEETING

[Services A – Operational Matters]

Thursday, 10th March 2016

ITEM NO. 15

Question: Councillor B. Dennehy

"To ask the Chief Executive to install the standard directional signage that is

installed where priority right of way is given on the section of road between the

Orchard Estate and Oldtown Village where such a situation exists?”

Reply:

The road from the Orchard housing estate to the village of Oldtown contains a

give and take chicane system. On both approaches to the chicane system there

are yield traffic signs and yield road surface markings. There are also ‘road

narrows’ and ‘prepare to stop’ signs on both approaches to the chicane.

At the junction with the R122 there are yield paint markings and a yield sign.

Additional signage at this location is not considered a priority. If signs are

missing or yield paint markings are worn they will be placed on the Signing and

Lining programme for renewal.
