FINGAL COUNTY COUNCIL

BALBRIGGAN/SWORDS AREA COMMITTEE MEETING

[Services A – Operational Matters]

Thursday 11th December, 2014

ITEM NO. 6

Question: Councillor B. Dennehy:

“To ask the Chief Executive to examine and recommend solutions to the additional danger created to motorist

and pedestrians exiting the Entrance to the Rush side of the Rush / Lusk train station due to improvements of the

new bridge which has traffic passing the entrance at increased speeds as the danger of the narrow bridge has

now been removed?”

Reply:

The entrance to the train station has been examined and advanced directional signs advising of the train station

entrance as well as speed reduction warning signs will be provided at this location. The Operations Department

require the agreement of a local landowner prior to the mobilisation of the signage contractor on site.

It should also be noted that the 2014 Speed Limit Bye-Laws, adopted by the Full Council on Monday 8th

December 2014, sets a 60km/h special speed limit at on the R128 Lusk-Rush Road.
