Speed Reader Whitestown Road, Rush

COMHAIRLE CONTAE FHINE GALL

FINGAL COUNTY COUNCIL

BALBRIGGAN/SWORDS AREA COMMITTEE MEETING

[Services A – Operational Matters]

Thursday, 11th June 2015

ITEM NO. 37

Question: Councillor B. Dennehy

"To ask the Chief Executive to advise of the progress of previous requests to provide

a speed reader on the Whitestown Road Rush on the left hand stretch of road

leading to Ardline House entering the town of Rush?"

Reply:

A study of the accident statistics along the R128 Lusk to Rush Road, from east of

Spout Road to the Millbank junction, has been completed.

In summary, the number of accidents have reduced in general, since 2001 with two

fatalities, one occurring in 2000 and one in 2001. Both of the fatalities were

pedestrian, one in the vicinity of the Graveyard and the other in the vicinity of the

Healy’s Lane junction.

The study of accident statistics at this location does not show an accident pattern

that would require traffic calming measures.

A speed survey has yet to be completed and a further report will be presented on

completion of this survey
