Motion: Councillor B. Dennehy:
“That the Chief Executive examine and make recommendations to reduce the
excessive speeding and the dangerous overtaking of traffic entering and exiting the
Town of Rush on the Whitestown Road on the stretch of road from the Centra Shop
to Ardline House where the white lines on the road have been eroded down to dots
currently"
Report:
The Whitestown Road from the Centra shop to the Ardline House has a number of
traffic calming ramps at present. The placement of further ramps, on a regional
route, to the west of the existing ramps would prove difficult due to the layout of the
junctions and entrances.
An alternative option would be to convert the traffic calming cushion, the last one as
you leave Rush, with a full width ramp. It is recommended that this option is given
further consideration and would be subject to Garda approval, public consultation
and a source of funding being available.
The white lining will be reviewed
