COMHAIRLE CONTAE FHINE GALL

FINGAL COUNTY COUNCIL

BALBRIGGAN/SWORDS AREA COMMITTEE MEETING

[Services A – Operational Matters]

Thursday, 11th April 2019

ITEM NO. 28

Cul-De-Sac sign Dublin Road, Lusk

Question: Councillor B. Dennehy

"To ask the Chief Executive to carry out the request of Question 58 at the

Balbriggan A Area meeting of February of 2019 where the following request was

submitted and reinstate the previously existing sign "To ask the Chief Executive

to provide an

opposite the existing one at the

entrance to the Estate at the Dublin Road, Lusk due to the number of vehicles

entering the Estate assuming it is a through road" and where the following was

carried out " This lane was incorrectly signed as the Dublin Road which may have

led motorists to ignore the existing Cul-De-Sac signage. The existing Cul-De Sac

sign should suffice when the street name plate has been moved to the correct

location. The resulting actions have the potential to (as happened previously)

where Emergency Services have ended up in other area's of Lusk when out

responding to emergencies. The Cul-De-Sac sign requested should have been

placed on the right hand side of the entrance to the Estate pointing to traffic

coming from the Murray's corner side of Lusk which would have complimented

the existing sign which faces in the other direction?”

Reply:

The Council has removed the Dublin Road nameplate from the entrance of

Dublin Road Cottages Lusk. It is not considered necessary to erect two cul-de-sac

signs at this location.
