COMHAIRLE CONTAE FHINE GALL

FINGAL COUNTY COUNCIL

BALBRIGGAN/SWORDS AREA COMMITTEE MEETING

(Services B – Strategic & General Matters)

THURSDAY 11th April, 2019

ITEM NO. 39

TEMPORARY OPENING OF THE NEW BROOK ROAD / TESCO JUCTION LINK

DURING THE WEEKENDS AI047935

Question: Councillor B. Dennehy

"To ask the Chief Executive to confirm if the current practice of opening

the link Road from the Tesco Junction to the Brook Road at weekends to

allow access to the new show houses on the Brook Road is officially

permitted, keeping in mind that the junction entering onto the Brook

Road is neither lined or signed indicating to traffic which road has the

priority, causing a major health and safety issue?"

Reply:

The Planning Department has been in contact with the developer and

from this contact and recent inspection understands that the road is no

longer in use to access show houses as alternative access arrangements

are available. The overall traffic management issues raised will be subject

to further examination and also discussion with the Operations

Department and an update will issue to the Councillor when this is

complete. There is a permitted junction at this location under planning

permission F15A/0294.
