DERELICT BUILING – WESTON PARK, OLDTOWN

COMHAIRLE CONTAE FHINE GALL

FINGAL COUNTY COUNCIL

BALBRIGGAN/SWORDS AREA COMMITTEE MEETING

(Services B – Strategic & General Matters)

THURSDAY 11th APRIL 2019

ITEM NO. 40

Question: Councillor B. Dennehy - Derelict building Weston Park, Oldtown.

"To ask the Chief Executive for an update on issues previously raised

regarding the unsafe state of the derelict building at Weston Park,

Oldtown. Residents have reported there is movement in the gable

wall which was ‘bursting’ – it appears to be an approximate 5ml shift

which is very concerning?"

Reply:

The site at Weston Park was recently sold. A Dangerous Structure

warning letter was issued under the Sanitary Services Act 1964.

It directed the new owners to secure the unfinished houses, make them

safe and prevent any unauthorised access.

The Council contacted the owner again last week to reiterate the concerns

and they stated that they would arrange to get the unfinished houses at

Weston Park knocked down. The situation will be monitored.
