MILL BANK OLD MILL TOURIST ATTRACTION

COMHAIRLE CONTAE FHINE GALL

FINGAL COUNTY COUNCIL

BALBRIGGAN/SWORDS AREA COMMITTEE MEETING

(Services B – Strategic & General Matters)

THURSDAY 8TH NOVEMBER, 2018

ITEM NO. 43

AI045496

Question: Councillor B. Dennehy

"To ask the Chief Executive to carry out a study of the cost to provide

the refurbishment of the Old Mill Rush into a viewing platform and

tourist attraction, drawings of which are already completed and

available if required?"

Reply:

The monument in question is a Windmill. It is a national monument

(DU008-012) and any alterations to this building would require Ministerial

Consent. Without significant and detailed assessment it would not be

possible to estimate the cost of developing a viewing platform. The

Council would be amenable to meeting with local groups to discuss their

ideas in relation to this and other local features.
