“This Committee calls upon the Chief Executive to outline the planned
provision by Fingal County Council of public sport fields / pitches for
the growing number of clubs and their increasing membership
numbers of same clubs in the various towns of the Balbriggan Ward
and what is the current status of delivery of the currently planned
public pitches/sporting fields as in terms of delivery to the towns of
the Balbriggan Ward.”
Report:
Fingal County Council has 30 grass sports pitches allocated to clubs from
various codes in the Balbriggan Electoral Ward area. The Council is
currently focused on developing further capacity through improvements
to existing pitches, the provision of additional grass pitches through the
Planning & Development Management Process and through significant
capital investment in Active Recreational Hubs. To this end, as regards the
Balbriggan Ward, improvements to pitches are ongoing at The Glebe,
Balrothery and Rathmore Lusk, Significant improvements and the
provision of additional pitches are also planned for Bremore Regional
Park subject to the adoption of a Landscape Master Plan for the park later
this year.
